Install additional ICC Profiles and expand the range of papers supported by your Canon professional photo printer – ideal for those needing an expert finish.
Installation of ICC Profiles
ICC Profiles for Canon papers and some third-party photo papers are pre-installed together with the printer driver. To install additional profiles for other popular photo papers tested and approved by Canon and for certain legacy models, download the ICC Profile Pack for your printer from one of the links below:
Installation instructions
Install the profiles following the procedure for your operating system:
Windows: Right-click the downloaded ICC profile and select ‘Install Profile’ from the menu.
Mac: Copy the ICC profiles to the ‘Profiles’ folder located in Finder / Go / Computer / [Your HD] / Library / ColorSync.
Printing with ICC Profiles
Once installed, the additional ICC profiles can be selected in the printer driver settings as well as in other professional photo applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
To achieve expert-quality photo prints with ease, you can use the dedicated Canon plug-ins Print Studio Pro and Professional Print & Layout, which integrate seamlessly with the Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom as well as Canon Digital Photo Professional.
Media Type
In the Media Type section, select either the paper name for Canon’s photo papers or paper type for other papers (i.e. Other Glossy Paper, Other Fine Art Paper or Canvas). The correct Media Type setting for each approved paper is indicated in a table of supported papers for your printer as well as in the manual included in the ICC Profiles Pack.
Colour management
Choose correct ICC profile
1. Set Colour Mode to ‘Use ICC Profile’
2. Set Printer Profile to ‘Auto’ for Canon papers or select the installed ICC profile from the list that matches your chosen paper.
3. Choose preferred Rendering Intent. ‘Perceptual’ is recommended for best possible screen to print colour matching.
Paper sources
Depending on paper type, weight and thickness, the paper should be loaded into the automatic top/rear tray or the manual feeder. You will find the correct settings in a table of supported papers for your printer as well as in the manual included in the ICC Profiles Pack.
Top/Rear tray
Designed for glossy, lustre and matt papers in sizes from 10x15cm to A2*, the automatic rear tray is located on top of the printer and can take up to 20 sheets of photo paper at a time.
Manual feeder
Designed for thicker and heavier papers as well as 17”-wide media*, the manual feeder is located on the back of the printer and takes a single sheet of paper or canvas at a time.

The tables below contain a list of popular photo papers which have been tested and approved to use with Canon printers as well as their media type and paper tray settings. The ICC Profiles for these papers are included in the download packs.
