Miele Switzerland introduced livestreams to help customers make the most of their kitchen appliances and share culinary tips and inspiration. "With Canon, we found the terrific tool to meet our needs in both video and photography," enthuses Barbara Markli, Head of Culinary Management at Miele Switzerland. "For Miele, it is very important to own the content production because they know the Miele story, they know their technology, they can be more flexible and the video output becomes much more attentive," says Christian Mossner, Co-CEO of Ganz Supravision, who advised Miele on in-house production. Working seamlessly alongside Cinema EOS cameras are two Canon CR-N300 (pictured) and one CR-N500 PTZ cameras. "As a food orientated company there's a very demanding expectation in terms of quality of image," adds Christian, citing the colour accuracy and matching of the full ecosystem as the most convincing Canon camera feature for Miele.

"Before, I was in front of the camera, as a chef, and was worried about using professional cameras. But now, after training with Christian, I can manage the PTZ cameras and they are very easy to use," says Benoît Croset, one of two chefs and appliance specialists who manage the studio and direct the livestreams. Knowing the subject matter they are filming in detail allows them to respond to quickly and instinctively while livestreaming, another benefit of bringing content creation in-house.

Why RF lenses are a future-proof investment

Canon continues to drive forwards optical excellence with its RF lens range, designed specifically for the EOS R mirrorless camera range and the Cinema EOS line-up. “Arguably, the lens is the most important element in the image capture system,” says Matthew.

The RF mount takes full advantage of mirrorless camera design. “Because the camera body design does not need to accommodate the mirror and prism of the traditional DSLR,” he continues, “the lenses can be made with larger elements nearer the camera body. This allows wider maximum aperture and light-gathering capability than an equivalent EF mount lens.”

Enhanced communication between the lens and camera delivers “faster autofocus and more efficient image stabilisation than before.” The range spans from ultra-wide to fast telephoto options, with models tailored for video and hybrid shooting.

Importantly, RF lenses are built to last. “They are an excellent investment as the lens will fit on future models as well as the current range,” says Matthew. And for those upgrading from EF lenses, he adds: “You can continue to use your older lenses by using one of the mount adapter options,” allowing for a smooth, budget-conscious transition.
